^ its put this way because its the happier side of things. when somebodys man is off the last thing they want to see, hear, or think about is all the bad things that can happen to him. looking at those pictures for me, is in a postive way that helps me get through and makes me believe he’ll be ok. thinking of those while your man is gone isn’t pleasant. so yes, there is a good reason as to how it is. all these pictures and sayings are also showing the good side of these military relationships.
^^^ This.
Oh, freedom of speech.
Deep down inside we know what each other goes through. We don’t want to talk about to high risks, the depression, the negative. If we’re negative then that brings our S/O down too. If we were to talk about all the bad, ppl who aren’t in a military relationship would tell us it was our decision to get in this kind of relationship, and then further tell us not to nag. So regardless if we talk all positive we get shit for it, if we’re debbie downers we get shit for it. Lose - Lose situation for us. So we talk about the ups, not the downs because well… who wants to be down all the time??
This! I don’t appreciate romanticizing military relationships. Marriage is work, it’s hard, and being a military wife makes it 10 times tougher. So you want to hold on to the dream and only see the pretty things, go ahead, but not to consider the realities of what could happen is naive.
